SAR Series Regulators

What is the operating pressure range for air regulators?

Maximum supply pressure for regulators is 250psi.  Regulating range is 0 – 150psi

Are the regulators relieving or non-relieving?

All of our regulators are relieving type.  This would mean when pressure is lowered from a high setting to lower setting, pressure is relieved to compensate the change in pressure.  When secondary pressure rises above the set pressure downstream, the regulator will relieve the backpressure that forms as well.

Can the gauge on regulators be moved to the other side?

Yes, the gauge can be installed on the other side.  There is a secondary gauge port directly on the opposite side of the regulator with a hex plug installed.  The hex plug can be removed and installed to the front gauge port.

How do I change air flow direction to the other direction (right to left)?

As standard flow direction is left to right, the flow direction can be switched to flow right to left by turning the unit around 180 degrees. There are directional arrows on the unit that indicate the flow direction.  The gauge would be installed on the opposite side, with the hex plug installed on the front gauge port (see above).

Does the regulator have to be installed with the adjustment knob facing down, or can the knob be on top?

No, the regulator can be installed with the adjustment knob on top as well.  Refer to the directional arrows to ensure the flow direction is correct before installing the regulator.

Can the regulator be disassembled for cleaning/maintenance?

Yes the regulator can be disassembled by removing the adjustment knob assembly from the body of the regulator.  Once removed, the internal components can be inspected, cleaned, or replaced as needed.  There will be a How-To Tutorial available for removing regulator knob assemblies soon.

Do I need to install a particulate filter upstream before the regulator?

We highly recommend installing a particulate filter before a regulator to prevent harmful debris/particulates from damaging internal components of the regulator.

What is the difference between the t-handle and standard adjustment knob?

Both T-Handle regulators and standard regulators will provide the same regulating range and flow.  The main difference will be how pressure is adjusted and set.  With the t-handle, the pressure is adjusted by turning the handle, and the pressure is set by a washer that will tighten towards the body of the regulator.  With a standard adjustment knob, pressure is adjusted by pulling the knob away from the regulator, and pressure is set by pushing the knob back down towards the regulator.

Can the embedded gauge be switched out for an external gauge?

Yes, with 100 series regulators (SAR100/200/300/400, etc), an embedded gauge is an available option.  A gauge port adapter can be installed in place of an embedded gauge for use with an external gauge.
